Engineering Performance

At its heart, the 778CDT employs a custom CD transport mechanism with a precision servo control system, engineered to ensure stable disc rotation, accurate tracking, and robust error correction. A temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) is used as the master clock, significantly reducing jitter and delivering a clean, stable SPDIF signal to the downstream DAC. True to Mission’s engineering philosophy, the design avoids unnecessary complexity. Key circuit functions — transport, laser, decoder, and master clock — are powered by dedicated low-noise supplies, minimising interference and preserving signal integrity throughout the playback chain. The result is a digital output that remains faithful to the source, allowing connected DACs to perform at their best.

Connectivity & Digital Flexibility

Digital output is provided via both coaxial and optical SPDIF, ensuring straightforward compatibility with the internal DAC of the 778X or any high-quality external DAC system. Beyond disc playback, the 778CDT also supports USB drive music playback, extending its role as a versatile digital transport. High-resolution audio files stored on USB devices — including FLAC, WAV, MP3, WMA, and APE — are handled using the same precision clocking and low-noise architecture as CD playback, ensuring consistent performance across physical and locally stored digital media.

RB330: Our team have worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of this new tonearm. Offering improved ergonomics, usability and sonic performance. Featuring a new bias assembly, re-designed stiffer vertical bearing housing, integrated arm clip and an improved spring housing with easier to read numbers. Other improvements include a Rega made, low capacitance phono cable terminated with high quality ‘Neutrik’ plugs, improved lower friction, precision horizontal and vertical bearings and a re-designed 100 g mild steel balance weight.

RB880: Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the new RB880 is the culmination of almost 40 years of tonearm design experience. This tonearm features a new aluminium vertical bearing housing, a redesigned sleeve and vertical bearing shaft (both manufactured from stainless steel) to improve mounting stability and overall rigidity. The advanced tonearm tube is designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, ensuring this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance.

The RB3000 tonearm is packed with new features pushing the boundaries of tonearm design. As with all Rega tonearms, each one is meticulously hand-built by a team of highly skilled technicians. The R3000 uses improved bearings with each one being hand selected to be an interference fit with the paired spindle matching both the inside and outside diameters. This is a Rega developed method of increasing the amount of detail retrieved from the record surface, designed specifically to maximise performance of the tonearm and cartridge (cartridge sold separately).

The RB Titanium tonearm is the most advanced and accurate production tonearm we have ever manufactured. The entire tonearm structure is designed to have the minimum of mechanical joints whilst using the stiffest materials in all critical areas.  The RB Titanium was originally designed to complement our highest performing turntable the Naia, it is now available for the first time to purchase separately as a retail model.

The Kytes are meticulously hand assembled in house using our unique design phenolic resin cabinet. Internally they feature ceramic plates and carefully engineered cross bracing developed to make the cabinet extremely stiff. This prevents unwanted resonances interfering with the accurate output of the drive units and directly improves both dynamics and the bass performance from the speaker. The Kytes are easy to position and are supplied with an optional foot to allow for various positioning giving the user greater flexibility. The Nd9 uses our most advanced “fine line” nude diamond profile, bonded to a Boron rod cantilever for maximum musical detail retrieval. This profile has an exceptionally small radii Monocrystalline manmade diamond with the minor radius being just 3µm (microns) as viewed from the top and 30µm in the vertical when viewed from the front. This profile allows immediate adjustment to very small changes in the vinyl due to the small contact area of the diamond which results in exceptional levels of detail being retrieved. The design uses brand new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve highly accurate channel balance.

The Nd9 also has an optimised pole gap for superior linearity and cross talk characteristics, this provides a far wider soundstage than the previous models. This new cartridge is created with miniaturised parallel coils which are wound in house utilising 38-micron wire with just 1275 turns. This produces a low inductance, low impedance generator giving vastly improved high frequency response. In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, the Nd range is supplied in 100% recyclable packaging.

Designed to work with a wide range of moving coil cartridges it has plenty of gain for low output MC’s and excellent load adjustability making it the perfect partner for whichever Moving Coil you are using.

First Stage: The first stage is a symmetrical, complementary class A amplifier, using Linear Systems ultra-low noise FET (Field Effect Transistor) transistors. The use of FET transistors ensures there is no bias current flowing in the cartridge coil so as not to upset the delicate magnetic geometry of the cartridge. The input circuit configuration also alleviates the use of any coupling components between the cartridge output and the input stage FET transistors, which would degrade the sound. The complementary ultra-low noise FET transistors are carefully graded and matched for optimum performance.
