Please Note: These are four extremely heavy boxes and need to use trucks instead of couriers. Delivery price outside of Tauranga will be extra. Please contact us first.

Wharfdale have really gone all out with these speakers. The new Heritage range of loudspeakers goes way back to the tradition of excellent sounding speakers. Something Wharfdale have been doing literally for decades.

Do yourself a favour and listen to these wonderful sounding, and extremely well made speakers!

To celebrate its history, Wharfedale has established the Heritage Series recreations of famous models from its past, entirely re-engineered using contemporary techniques and materials. The latest loudspeaker to join this collection is the Linton.

The original Linton debuted in 1965 and the line continued in various iterations until the end of the 1970s. It was a classic model of its time, viewed as a serious hi-fi speaker but also relatively affordable. Its cabinet was substantial, big enough to hold three drive units including a good-sized bass unit, yet not overly unwieldy by the standards of the day.

The new Linton has a clear family resemblance. It, too, is a three-way standmount model – a rarity in the modern era – retaining similar proportions to the classic Linton models. Its wood-veneered cabinet has a vintage look, yet the standard of finish is distinctly contemporary.

Retro style, timeless musicality

The Linton makes use of its wide ba?e by incorporating a large (by modern standards) bass driver with a 200mm Kevlar cone, mounted on a rigid, die-cast chassis. Above this sits a 135mm midrange driver, also sporting a woven Kevlar cone and housed within its own internal enclosure. Finally, a 25mm fabric-dome tweeter with a high-?ux ferrite magnet handles high frequencies.

The original Linton incarnations of the 1960s and 1970s were well known for their rich and natural sound quality; the new model retains these attributes but upgrades the performance in every department. Its bass is deep and well-de?ned, its midrange clear and open, with free-breathing dynamics and an expansive scale that brings music to life. It is a sound you can dive into and lose yourself in, as you listen to album after album; a nostalgic nod to the past elevated to a level ?t for the future.

Designed to appeal

This is a speaker that exudes authenticity, designed to appeal to the dedicated music-lover.

In keeping with a design intended to be treasured, the new Linton sports hand-matched wood veneers and optional matching stands with a similarly classic style. Custom-made to ensure each speaker is sited at the perfect height for a seated listener, the stand’s rigid metal frame ensures critical damping of unwanted vibrations, embellished with wood-veneered panels at the top and bottom to complement the speakers. The design even provides space to store vinyl records within the stand’s structure.

Denton 85th Anniversary is a two-way speaker in the classic bookshelf tradition, beautifully hand veneered in Mahogany by Wharfedale cabinet makers with an inset front baffle and traditional Tungsten cloth grille.

Underneath the traditional exterior, however, the Denton 85th Anniversary is bang up to date and utilises a mixture of traditional and advanced technology. The bass unit features Wharfedale’s innovative woven Kevlar cone mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis, this combination delivering a rich, detailed bass/midrange output with superb dynamic performance. High frequencies are handled by a woven textile soft dome treble unit with high flux ferrite magnet, engineered for smooth, detailed HF extension.

These drive units are combined by a highly researched crossover that is near inaudible to the listener, resulting in a coherent, seamless musical output that is both thrilling and natural in its rendition of any source material.

Most famous Loudspeaker
Wharfedale is proud to present this 85th Anniversary Edition of one of the brand’s most famous and popular loudspeakers – the Denton.

Gilbert Briggs, who founded Wharfedale in 1932, turned the company into one of the most famous loudspeaker brands in the world by concentrating on quality and value for money.

The Wharfedale Denton exemplified these two edicts, balancing fine craftsmanship, natural sound quality and affordability inside a compact loudspeaker that was bought in its millions right across the globe.

The original Denton went on to further other models based on its highly popular formula, the Denton 3 being the last of the line…

…until now!

Don't have a load of free space? The new Denton maight well be the answer.

Wharfedale Super Denton 3-way Bookshelf Speaker

Wharfedale’s new SUPER DENTON is part of Wharfedale’s Heritage series, based on classic designs from Wharfedale’s past but brought right up to date with modern drive unit, cabinet and crossover technology.

The Heritage series commenced, in 2014, with the Denton 80th anniversary model, followed by the Denton 85th and the trend-setting Linton model – which reignited a passion for the traditional, large stand mount loudspeaker. More recently complemented by the high-end Dovedale model, which signaled the return of UK manufacturing, the Heritage series emphasises why no loudspeaker manufacturer can claim a richer heritage than Wharfedale.

Following on from the aforementioned models, Wharfedale’s loudspeaker engineers, led by the revered Peter Comeau as Director of Acoustic Design, have sought to extend the series by taking another price-point-defying model from the archives and subjecting it to innovations and improvements learned over Wharfedale’s decades of loudspeaker development.

Taking inspiration from the Denton 3 – a loudspeaker that, in 1971, was acclaimed for surprising comparisons to the more regular large-format speakers of the time – DENTON has now evolved to the ‘SUPER’ status – a term originally applied to improved ‘Super’ and ‘Super Power’ Wharfedale models of the 1970s. The new SUPER DENTON follows suit in creating another modern classic with all the romance of heritage design matched by the latest in loudspeaker engineering.

DENTON, in all current iterations, holds its place as a standmount/bookshelf speaker that is easy to fall in love with — thanks in no small part to the proportions of its quality veneered cabinet. The new SUPER DENTON takes the ‘Super’ aspiration to a new level and brings back the classic 3-way design of the Denton 3, but rather than follow the LINTON model with another large-format cabinet design, the SUPER DENTON remarkably keeps to the compact standmount/bookshelf format and is a mere 20mm taller than the DENTON 85th model!

The industrial design and cabinet engineering required incredible effort to support such a complex array in a small volume, small footprint cabinet. The SUPER DENTON cabinet features critically placed bracing and internal acoustic damping using layers of long-hair fibre and the midrange and treble units have their own rear enclosures. As with all models in the Heritage series, the new SUPER DENTON cabinet is wrapped with hand-matched wood veneers for a furniture-grade finish befitting any living environment – classic or modern.

These speakers mean business! The new Wharfedale SUPER LINTON represents a significant milestone in innovation for Wharfedale, being a standout addition to the globally best-selling Heritage series.

This updated model is part of a line of award-winning speakers that are renowned for their exceptional musicality and have won the hearts of tens of thousands of music lovers. Led by Peter Comeau, the Director of Acoustic Design, Wharfedale’s engineers revisited every aspect of the speaker’s design, including the cabinet, drive units, and crossover. The outcome of their efforts is the newly upgraded Super Linton.

The current iteration of the Wharfedale LINTON was launched in 2019 and has since become one of the company’s most successful loudspeakers… ever! Not only in the number of pairs sold but also in terms of awards, accolades and endorsements from enthusiasts and press alike.

As part of Wharfedale’s world-famous heritage series, LINTON can boldly but confidently claim to be one of the most astounding value loudspeakers of recent times.
Not only is LINTON an exception in design, build, and styling, but its industrial design and acoustic performance have been universally welcomed as a loudspeaker that brings musicality back to music and romance back to home hi-fi.

Still going strong and one of the most sought-after loudspeakers in the market, LINTON is going nowhere soon and remains a jewel in the crown of Wharfedale’s ever-popular Heritage series.

Unlike the SUPER LINTON of ’67, which was’ Super’ on the basis of mainly improved cabinet design, the new SUPER LINTON is genuinely SUPER in every way. Not detracting from its sister, the current LINTON, the SUPER LINTON takes one step further in engineering and performance in almost every aspect. The result is a moderately more expensive but extensively more capable loudspeaker that forms the perfect addition to the Heritage series, offering an upgrade path for existing LINTON owners but also bridging the gap between the flagship, made in the UK DOVEDALE model.

A new bass unit and a more powerful motor system enhance the low-frequency performance, extending down to 32Hz! This results in a more dramatic and impactful low-end.

For the treble output, SUPER LINTON features a lightweight fabric weave dome coated with special damp-ing material and supported by a ceramic magnet motor system, contributing to its sweet and detailed char-acter. The revised short horn profile ensures smooth response down to the upper midrange, and the new front plate design enhances high-frequency dispersion, matching the transient impact and detailing of the new bass unit.

A new revised chamber for the midrange drive unit works to cancel out mid-band specific back waves by multiple layers of long-hair fibre, resulting in a more natural prominence of the vocal and instrument frequencies.
